ONE TREE PLANTED
One Tree Planted is a nonprofit organization focused on global reforestation. Their projects are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife. Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs for social impact, and restore biodiversity. Many projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
OUR CONTRIBUTION
We have partnered with One Tree Planted to support sustainable reforestation of destroyed rainforest – currently in Sumatra. As part of this project a series of mixed agroforestry white pepper farm plots totalling over 60 hectares will be established with participating farmers on Bangka Island. This project is a true community endeavour. Through the capacity-building program, pepper farmers will receive the education and resources needed to implement mixed agroforestry systems on their farms while modelling to others. In this way, participating farmers become key stakeholders in the success of this tree planting effort on their own lands.
